The smile of a child lasts forever.
This picutre is just one of the many embodiments of the sould of camp. Trey is throwing back his head while sailing down the slide. Something that every child does. I can remember hearing his laughter ring out as he landed at the bottom jumping down to run over to his counsler to pull her up to go with him. Thinking back to it, I can still hear it ringing in my ears.
Camp Life is filled with smiles, laughter, tears, screaming, running, and song. We start out the day with songs like The Weenie Man, What's Your Name, and The Banana Song. The laughter starts even before everyone is awake. At any moment, at any place on camp grounds you can find a smile and a hug.
You can meet kids who have been coming there entire life and know every little nook and cranny (and good hiding place), and you can meet some that have never felt so welcomed and loved because they have finnaly found a place where they are the normal ones.
This place is my home. It is where I learned to be a child, to love, lugh and , cry like a child. It is where I learned how to deal with the crap in the outside world, and find the places that are just like it. I know what unconditonal love is beacuase of it, and unending obscure beauty.
My home will always ring with the laughter of the ever-child.
It will be wet with tears, and loud with song.
